The “Desperate Housewives” actress denied she was tipped for a role as Beyonce Knowles’ lesbian lover in a new film based on Sara Waters’ love story labeled as a female “Brokeback Mountain.”
The movie to be directed by Sofia Coppola, “Tipping The Velvet,” was rumored to have Eva Longoria who plays Gabrielle Solis in ABC’s show, “Desperate Housewives” and the “Crazy In Love” singer, Beyonce Knowles, playing the main parts as two lesbians lovers.
Based on a raunchy Sarah Waters novel, it tells the tale of a young girl who falls in love with another woman, moves to the city, becomes a stage star, falls from grace, ends up on the street prostituting herself before falling in love with another woman and getting back up on her feet. It's a period piece set in Victorian era London.
A source revealed several days ago: "They weren't at all coy about the sex scenes. In fact they both seemed to think it would be more fun than doing the same work with a man. It's going to be very hot."
But it all seemed just too hot to be true, right? Shortly after the news made headlines in newspapers all over the world, Longoria decided to put an end to the situation.
"Stop the madness," Longoria told People magazine. According to the 31-year-old actress, rumors about their collaboration started earlier than the stars had even met.
"Beyonce and I just did the L'Oreal event a couple of days ago and we were like, 'What is the deal?'” Longoria said.
“Believe me, I would love to work with Beyonce one day. She's so talented. But this is definitely not something we are doing together. It's completely and absolutely not true
Longoria’s lawyers started investigations in order to discover the source that made up the entire story including the fake quotes.
"What makes me crazy is that there are quotes out there, quotes from me saying it's true," said the Texas beauty.
"But in fact it's not true. And [there are] quotes of Beyonce saying it's about time we had a female 'Brokeback Mountain'. And we're like: 'We never said that'."
Former “Destiny’s Child” member’s publicist rejected the rumors as well. “This is not happening. We've never heard of this film," they told People.
Up next for Knowles is a starring role in the film “Dreamgirls”, which opens next month.
Just yesterday, many articles quoted Longoria as saying: “Yes it's true. We are talking about doing the movie together. It's such a wonderful novel, a beautiful love story."
The ones who forged the quotes had some reserved for Beyonce as well.
"We've had Brokeback Mountain so the time is right for this divine novel to get the same treatment," Beyonce allegedly said.
